been using rotella t6 and hiflofilter no issues have 81k on my 07 zx6r, and 17k on my 07 gsxr 1000. ive tried other oils such as amsoil, i will admit slightly smoother shifts with amsoil but not worth the price. i'll say it again rotella t6!

I'm a Rotella fan myself. Have also logged many miles with it. I've found the dino Rotella (15w40) provides slightly smoother shifts and less tranny/engine noise when hot. I change my oil @ 2,500 mi. intervals anyways. 12-$13/gallon, excellent oil.

I just bought my first bike. 05 gsxr600. I LOVE it. So sweet... blue and white ... mmmm.. pristine condition. Only 12know miles.

Oil..

I just changed the oil and followed the book, all suzuki, 10w40 synthetic race oil and suzuki oil filter. I have all the records from previous whom in which also ran the same combo. The bike runs soooooooooo smooth. Vroom vroom

After hitting 4000km on my 2016 GSXR750, I think it is time to change to fully synthetic oil.

Just purchased some Penrite 10-40w fully Synthetic. Have used this in another bike and found smoother shifting compared to the factory oil.

The suzuki oil filters have arrived. Just waiting on the magnetic sump plug.

Do the engines on these bikes last much beyond 4000km? [emoji23]

As you have seen with your previous bike, you'll have an even sweeter bike after the change.

I normally run the K&N oil filter - I find using a socket to remove it much easier than the stock filter.

As I read in all previous 1000 + oil threads, everyone has their own take on what oil they should use, At the end of the day as long as it meets the manufacturers requirements it all does the same thing.

The penrite worked out at $10 / litre (Bought a 20 litre drum)so would be similar to the OEM oil in price I guess. Most workshops would use bulk oil to maximise their profits, so it's a bit of a lottery as to what you get.

I also found the OEM filters on ebay for around $17.00, so bought two of them. I use a oil filter removal tool.

To finish off all these oil threads. These sports bikes will probably be found in a salvage yard before the engine packs it in.

Just ride the bike and enjoy it whilst you can. :wink

I haven't read thru the thread, and probably won't.

I'd like to add- and I'm sure it's in the thread,
that most all of us should also be using the oil that is rated for the wet clutches too.
I think it's that JM.... something like that also- too lazy to look it up this morning.

I use Walmart's Supertech conventional 10w-40 paired with their oil filter. Bought the conversion oil filter adapter from bales technical service--filter is much better than factory! Been using this oil since I first got the bike and works like a charm!

I sometimes use this oil in my truck and our Pilot.
While it may work fine, it's not rated for a wet clutch engine though.

If it's not JASO wet clutch approved, you are begging for costly troubles down the road... I have always used Shell Rotella 15-40 in my '83 GS 1100 T. Never an issue after 10 years. (accept when the oil drain plug blew out at 80+ mph and locked her up) Shit happens...

I am now looking for a good synthetic for my '95 GSXR and came in here to see what the "hive mind" has top say about it...

Motul with Ester is supposed to be the best oil, but you should not use the 300V unless you are racing with it. That is what I read, not sure if it's any better than any other good oil, but the race only oil makes sense.

I tried Walmart special full synthetic, been working okay. If you want a good but relatively inexpensive oil, Maxima Synthblend 50/50. You can get a gallon on Amazon for about $30.00. I can say it shifted smoother with the Maxima as opposed to the Walmart Full synthetic. In fact I plan on changing the oil ahead of schedule.

I will be trying Maxima's ProPlus+ full syntetic which has Ester as well. It is less than $40.00 for a gallon. I am willing to bet that is the oil I will be staying with. It meets or exceeds JASO MA, API SL/SJ/SH/SG and has anti-wear additives.

I use the K&N Filter as well, but if you want to save about 25% and still essentially get a K&N oil filter, get the HiFloFiltro HF138RC (EXACT same filter and design as the K&N KN-138 for my 2005 GSXR 600, without paying for the name). It is about $9.00 with Prime shipping on Amazon where as the K&N will cost about $12.00/shipped. Every dollar counts!
